PULLING MY HAIR OUT (and yarn, too)!
Ok, so I scrapped the felted bag… I just couldn’t find the needles I needed for that particular pattern. I needed 16″ sz10 circs, and I only have 29″. They are just too long to make the knitting easy. So, the wool is back in the stash bag, waiting patiently for me to decide what to turn it in to.
Now, on to the Fetching. I am so nervous about using this yarn! Its just too expensive to be messed with willy nilly. LOL Really, though, I realize that many of you don’t consider $7 for a tiny skein of yarn expensive, but I do because I just am a total tightwad, and there is ALWAYS something else we need/want the money for. That being said, I am trying to get better about this, it will just take me a while… So………………….. I can’t decide what to do with the Cash Vero, either. I am still planning on making them into fingerless gloves, but I think I will just use a very generic “tube” type of dealio and just leave a hole for my thumb. This is actually how I like my sweaters, so I think I will be happier with this.
*sigh*
On a brighter note, I took the kids to the McDonald’s Playscape for a few hours today and we all had a good time. I worked on the Skull Illusion Scarf, and wasn’t paying close attention so had to frog a few rows here and there lol, but it’s ok. We were having fun, and that’s all that counts, right?
I’m just frustrated because I have all these projects I want to make and so much yarn I want to use, I just can never decide what to work on in what order.

Because you can never have too many projects OTN…
I went to MassAveKnits tonight to pick up the scarf pattern, and I went to Greenwood to the Goodwill before I went home. I picked up a really cute kelly green wool Old Navy Sweater (that I started picking apart in the bar at Olive Garden while waiting on my carry-out). Before I left Goodwill, I strolled through the back “crazy aisles” just to glance around and if there wasn’t a skein of yarn lol. Ok, nothing spectacular, just some acrylic – nooooooo it was WOOL! And upon further inspection there were three skeins. It’s REALLY old and they are three different dye lots of the same color, but I bought them anyway, because I could hahaha. The yarn is a dark burgandy color, kind of like wine. Long story short, when I got home, I looked up a felted bag pattern that I’d been eyeing and cast on my 4th WIP this week!! LOL Can you say Knitting ADD??
Future Project Idea
Pattern: Felted Purse
Yarn: Any 100% wool (not superwash)
Needles: US10 circs, and dpns
I also picked up some Cash Vero Yarn while I was at MassAve since they didn’t carry Debbie Bliss Cashmerino, Susan (the owner) said this was a good substitute. So……….. I will be adding another pair of Fetching to the list this week, too.
Let’s see, that means I have the following OTN:
a. Syd’s sweater
b. Skull illusion scarf
c. Trey’s socks
d. Felted Purse frogged due to wrong circ length
and e. Fetching waiting patiently to be CO. LOL Wow, I have a lot to do this week!!
Future Projects/Ideas
The other day, someone on one of the mailing lists I’m on sent a request for the Ruffled Roses Scarf pattern by Annie Modesitt. I emailed MassAveKnits to see if they had it and they requested it for me. I’m going to go pick it up either today or Friday. This request wasn’t actually for me, but the pattern isn’t allowed to be emailed, etc, so I’m keeping it. (Annie has done this for a great reason, she wants ppl to actually go INTO their LYS and buy things rather than just shop online). I think this is really nice of her to encourage support of your LYS. I am unsure that I will actually make this scarf as its a little “foo foo” for me, but I do think it’s really cute.
Future Project Idea
Pattern: Ruffled Roses Scarf
Yarn: ONLine, Linie 194 Solo
Misti Baby Alpaca Worsted Marigold Melange
Misti Baby Alpaca Worsted Chartreuse Melange
Misti Baby Alpaca Worsted Maize
Needles: US7
Right now, though I’m working on an Skull Illusion Scarf in Orange and Blue. The illusion isn’t as clear as I’d hoped, but as expected I’m using cheap yarn for the “trial and error” phase.
The great people over at
sent me another picture of the Swamp Witch Shawl per my request. They did mention that even this 2nd picture doesn’t do the green that is in the shawl justice. I still think this is so cool looking, and I really think I will eventually knit this.

Swamp Witch (Future Project)
Future Project Idea
Pattern: Swamp Witch
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease Mushroom (1)
Paton’s Allure Emerald (4)
Paton’s Divine Soft Earth (2)
Paton’s Brilliant Marvelous Mocha (2)
Needles: US 35/19.0mm knitting needles
I kind of want to make this. The only thing is that its knit on US35 needles. That is HUGE. I hate working with size 13s, let alone 35!! LOL
The drawback is really the price… The yarn will cost me about $45 and I wouldn’t pay $45 for a shawl, ever. I probably wouldn’t pay $10 for a shawl lol, I’m not a shawl wearer. So maybe I’ll just keep this in my “to do” list until all the yarn goes on sale some place hahahah!
I just really like the colors, they look dark and depressing. Isn’t that what all knitters look for in a pattern? Angst and Ennui?
Sock Sadness
Why oh why do socks hate me so? I love knitting socks, and I have started countless socks, but they always look like crap, so I frog them. I wonder if I need to try a few pairs with the cheap RedHeart SportWeight Yarn that I use for all my trial and error projects because it seems like when I try to knit with the thin sock yarn the fabric ends up being loose and the hand feels like it wouldn’t be comfortable on the foot. (HAHA play on words… I am one funny gal…)
I am currently making a toddler size sock just for the heck of it to see how it turns out and although it started with a funky cable on it, the kids/dog/unknown tore out part of it so the cable had to be frogged. Anyway, tomorrow its back to the sweater most likely, but I am a sad girl because my sock making sucks.

Fetching (aka fingerless gloves)
DISCLAIMER: This was actually made and photographed by yours truly.
I decided to take a short weekend break from the fuzzy sweater (so I don’t get burnt out) and made some fingerless gloves. Well, one anyway. I’m not thrilled with the fit, so I am not sure I will make a 2nd one and waste the yarn.
Finished Object
Pattern: Fetching
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease, Pink Heather
Needles: Brittany birch DPNs Sz6

Toe-Up Socks
I’ve been playing around with my new Addi Turbo, and trying some Toe-Up Sock patterns. I haven’t actually made any socks, just been doing the cast-on and making some toes. Let me tell you, the Turkish Cast-on makes some CUTE toes!! I will gather some good links that explain this, and hopefully make one I’m not ashamed of and post a pic of my own hahaha!
So Charles has decided he wants to start watching 24 so we are renting Season 1, four episodes at a time. I was really bored with the 1st episode, but we are starting episode #3 right now and I am sort of intrigued as to what is going to happen with his daughter. The idea behind this show is kinda cool, I suppose, at least its original. (And they don’t have to spend much time and effort on costumes since the whole season takes place over one day…)

Very nice sock chart
I had seen this a few months ago then lost the link. I finally found it again today – its very helpful.
Enjoy!
Guess what I bought myself???????
GUESS GUESS GUESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Crystal, guess!!!)
An Addi Turbo! Wooooooot! (30″, Sz2)
I stopped by Mass Ave Knits and picked one up on the way home from FACE tonight. So, I played around a bit with the Magic Loop Method. Its not too hard, but just awkward; however, not maybe not as awkward as 5 dpns.
