Cancer has entered the picture.
Unfortunately, on Friday morning, we got one of those calls you hope you never get. My mother in law has been sick for a while, and I guess I hadn’t posted about it much on here, but long story short, she was diagnosed with a large Gastric Lymphoma. She is having a scan on Wednesday to determine if the cancer has spread, and determine other information about the tumor(s). We will get all the results on Friday morning. Afterwards, we are planning on getting a 2nd opinion for treatment at a Dr. here in Indianapolis, and moving forward with treatment. Her current Dr. has told her that she will need 3/4 of her stomach removed and chemotherapy, but like I said we are going to get a second opinion for treatment options before we jump into anything. I will keep everyone updated

This is so funny, my mom is having my aunt help her clean her kitchen before my mom has her knee surgery (because everyone knows you must have clean cabinets prior to knee surgery, right?? lol). Anyway, she took a pic, because we had a pic of her doing this same thing for my mom back in about 1975 hahaha! Enjoy

KIDNEY STONES
Well, for the past few days I’ve been in some major pain and popping vicodin right and left… I’m hoping that the worst is behind me, but the stone(s?) still hasn’t passed. Life is pretty miserable around here, but today at least I’m having some relief. The worst pain was Saturday. I am still surprised I didn’t end up in the hospital.

Greek Deliciousness!!!
Dorothy and I had Greek food for lunch today at Acropolis on Southport. It was the first time I’d been in there, and I must say, even though I’ve heard that Santorini is much better, I really enjoyed it. The saganaki was SOOO delicious! I had a gyro platter (which was yummy, but exactly what you’d expect from a gyro and really nothing spectacular, but yummy nonetheless), and Dorothy had cabbage rolls, which were unlike any cabbage rolls I’d ever had before. They were made with a lemon sauce which may SOUND gross, but it was actually really unique and pretty good. But the pita bread O M G it was the best I’d ever had. It was so thick and chewy, almost like naan. Yum yum delish. Enjoy a pic of the saganaki and the pita!!!

Garden of the Gods…
Now, I’m wondering how it is that I have been to Southern Illinois about 400 times in my life as mom’s family is all from the Harrisburg area, yet I have never heard of the “Garden of the Gods” until today?!?!?!! A friend of mine posted a picture on Facebook of him sitting on top of this crazy penis shaped rock, lol. So I did some searching online and imagine my surprise when all this ripe hiking area was so close to where I’ve been so many times in my life, and also where I want to return to so I can take some pics of family graves?!?!?!
We might have to add this to our Spring Break Illinois trip!!!
